Unlike many other locations found in Breath of the Wild, Hateno Village is an entirely new area built just for the latest entry in the Zelda series. Found in East Necluda, past Kakariko Village, a town that has been a recurring setting in the Zelda series for some time, Hateno is a very large, though somewhat quiet, town known for being the home of the eccentric scientist, Purrah. Despite not being a location that is particularly central to the overarching plot, unlike Kakariko Village, there is a lot to see and do in Hateno Village that makes it one of the few locations that players will likely return to multiple times in their journey across Hyrule. 4 The Merchants Of Hateno Like most other major towns, Hateno has its own inn in the form of The Great Pon Tu Inn. While this inn shares many similarities with every other inn, as the hero Link can pay 20 Rupees to stay the night and replenish his hearts, the secondary healing option is a little different. In every other inn, Link can pay 80 Rupees to not only heal all of his hearts but gain three temporary hearts and a temporary wheel of stamina. Though, in the Great Pon Tu Inn, he can, instead, pay 40 Rupees to gain a single temporary heart. On the main road in town, players can find a handful of different shops that sell unique items found in few other shops in Hyrule. Most notably, the Kochi Dye shop is found in Hateno Village that allows Link to color certain armor pieces differently, though, for the most part, this dying mechanic can only be done on armors found in the base game and not on Amiibo limited armors such as the Fierce Deity Armor. Further down the road, players can find the Ventest Clothing Boutique, which sells the same Hylian Armor that can be obtained in Kakariko Village. Though, instead of the Sheikah Armor, players can obtain the Soldier Armor for a bargain at 630 Rupees for the whole set. While the Soldier Armor doesn't have any inherent effects while wearing, it does provide the highest armor rating of any other armor as a result. However, it is also susceptible to lightning storms due to it being made of metal rather than cloth. On this same stretch of road, players can find the general store, East Wind, which sells a wide variety of useful food items like Milk, Bird Eggs, and Hearty Truffles. The items of note here, however, are the Bomb Arrows, which are sold individually or in bundles of 10. Considering how early in the game players can reach Hateno Village, it is worth stocking up on Bomb Arrows if possible. They should still not be taken into Lanaryu or Death Mountain region, as they won't blow up in Lanayru and they will explode in Link's face in Death Mountain. The final merchant that can be found in Hateno is the Fang and Bone, Kilton's monster part shop. It will only appear if he has first been found in the left eye of Skull Lake. 3 Loot And Korok Seeds Considering that Hateno is such a large village, it should be no surprise that there are loot and weapons everywhere in sight. While they aren't particularly strong items, Link can find a Farming Pitchfork, Farming Hoe, Pot Lid, Rusty Halberd, Soup Ladle, and Wooden Mop in various locations in the town. The area immediately outside of the main entrance to Hateno Village is often populated with several Bokoblin that wield these items as well, making them fairly easy to obtain if players are looking to complete the Hyrule Compendium. Unlike in other towns, there are several Korok that can be found inside Hateno Village, though not all of them are easy to spot. The most obvious Korok is found on the top of Purrah's laboratory and requires either climbing to the peak or using Revali's Gale to reach. Just past a small bridge over Firly Pond, found just south of Hateno Village, there is a small rock at the far end of the pond that is hiding a Korok beneath it. Just north of Hateno Village, past Zelkoa Pond, there is a large tree that can be claimed to find another Korok hiding in the branches, while to the east of this point, on an island in Lake Sumac, there is another large tree with a similarly placed Korok hiding at the top. The final Korok found in Hateno is located just behind Purrah's laboratory in a small pond. To obtain this Korok Seed, simply dive into the ring of plants in the pond to reveal the Korok. 2 The Quests Of Hateno While Link is sent to Hateno Village to meet with Purrah and unlock the mysteries of the Sheikah Slate, there are also several other side quests that can be started in Hateno, some of which are particularly long. One of the longest side quests in Breath of the Wild is "From The Ground Up," which tasks Link with helping Bolson build an entirely new town called Tarrey Town. To begin this quest, Link needs to have first completed the Hylian Homeowner side quest that sees him buy back his old family home from Bolson to prevent him from destroying it. There are 10 parts to "From The Ground Up," with each step either being to find someone with the 'son' suffix in their name or to gather Bundles of Wood for Bolson. Once completed, Link will receive 3 Diamonds for his trouble and gain access to a couple of new merchants in Tarrey Town. Just outside the Great Pon Tu Inn, Link can find a shady-looking gentleman, Manny, who has something of a crush on the innkeeper, Prima, and is looking for a way to impress her. Taking to Manny will initiate the "A Gift For My Beloved" side quest as he tasks Link with finding out what Prima likes. In order to progress, simply talking to Prima may not be enough and may require Link to go behind the counter first to hear her mumble something about Restless Crickets. After taking this information back to Manny, he will ask Link to bring him 10 Restless Crickets, which are fairly easily found by cutting down tall grass in field areas. Once given 10 Restless Crickets, Manny will reward Link with a Silver Rupee for his trouble. Just down the road from Purrah's lab, Link can find a worried sheep farmer, Koyin, who will ask Link to deal with monsters on Hateno Beach for them and begin the "Sheep Rustlers" side quest. After going down to the beach, defeating the monsters, and returning to Koyin, Link will be given 10 Fresh Milk for helping them, which can be cooked with many different food items to create soups and cakes. The quest that players should grab sooner rather than later, however, is "The Weapon Connosoir," given by Nebb, a Hylian child that is normally found running around the general store. Nebb will request that Link show them various weapons that he can find throughout the game, including a Traveller's Sword, Duplex Bow, and Ancient Short Sword. Link will have to show Nebb eight weapons in total, with each weapon increasing the reward given, from a simple Red Rupee all the way up to a Gold Rupee. The final reward is a Diamond. Since each of these weapons can be hard to find when players are actually trying to look for them, it is worth returning to Nebb regularly if Link has what he wants to see on him. The last quest that can be done in Hateno, "The Statue's Bargain," is a recurring one that can be started by talking to an excitable boy called Teebo in town. He wants to show Link a mysterious statue that is found on the outskirts of town. After praying to the statue, Link will lose a heart or chunk of stamina, though will be given 100 Rupees. After talking to the statue, Link will have his heart or stamina returned in exchange for 120 Rupees, which will end the quest. It will also allow Link to reallocate the invested Spirit Orbs into hearts or stamina if the player wants more of one or the other. 1 The Shrine Near Hateno Like all towns, there are Shrines dotted around the immediate area that allow Link to fast travel back to those locations whenever he needs to. However, while Hateno has a fast travel point at Purrah's lab, there is only one other shrine that is close enough to Hateno Village to make it worth traveling to. The Myahm Agana Shrine, found on the outskirts of town, has a relatively simple puzzle that needs to be completed involving moving a large platformed maze to get a Sheikah Orb into the correct position. However, this puzzle can be cheesed by simply turning the maze upside down and allowing the respawning ball to travel along the flat underside instead. There is also a hidden chest in the maze itself that contains a Phrenic Bow and is worth grabbing for the earlier sections of the game. Breath of the Wild may be over four years old, but it is such a remarkable game that players will enjoy the experience time and time again. New players and players exploring the story for a subsequent time will need to acquire Chuchu Jelly for a variety of purposes. The item is dropped by Chuchu, which can be found throughout Hyrule. The Chuchu are a gel-based monster that gamers will come across at lower levels, but their Chuchu Jelly is essential later in the game. This guide will cover the types of Chuchu Jelly, its applications, and where to find it. Updated on August 30, 2021 by Payton Lott One of the main reasons players will want to collect Chuchu Jelly in BOTW is to upgrade armor sets. This updated guide includes information about upgrading each set, including the necessary ingredients for each upgrade. Many of these upgrades will be crucial as Link fights his way through Hyrule. Another primary Chuchu Jelly use is creating Dubious Food. When Link is moments from death, the strange food can help save his life, but for a price. Readers should look to the final section of this guide if they would like to farm infinite Chuchu. Types Of Chuchu Jelly There are four different types of Chuchu Jelly in BOTW, including plain, white, red, and yellow. Plain Chuchu jelly is a drop from Chuchu in the wild. Plain Chuchu Jelly can be sold to Beedle and Kilton for five Rupees and three Mon respectively. The plain Chuchu Jelly dropped from the Blue Chuchu can also be transformed into the other three types of Jelly. The Jelly is elementally transformed by ice, fire, or electrical energy. Listed below are all three of the elemental Jellies and how players can transform Blue Jelly using the elements. White Chuchu Jelly Strike with an ice weapon/frost attack or place in an icy area. Red Chuchu Jelly Strike with a fire weapon/ fire attack or place in fire. Yellow Chuchu Jelly Strike with an electric weapon/ electric attack or get it struck by lightning. Each type of Chuchu jelly can also be found in the wild, but the elemental Chuchu are not as common and are more difficult to farm. Players will want to have each type of Jelly for the reasons stated below. Chuchu Jelly Uses The most common reason players will want to collect BOTW Chuchu Jelly is to craft upgraded armor. Plain Chuchu Jelly is used to upgrade the Soldier's set, which is important while progressing in Breath of the Wild. Below are the three other types of Jelly and the armor sets they are used to upgrade. White Chuchu Jelly Desert Voe Set Red Chuchu Jelly Snowquill Set Yellow Chuchu Jelly Rubber Set Armor Sets In order to make upgrades to armor, players must first find at least one of the four Great Fairy Fountains. Each of them are listed below for people to reference. Great Fairy Cotera Forest above the Kakariko Village. Great Fairy Kays North side of Pier Ridge in the southern Tabantha Frontier. Great Fairy Mija North side of Kaepora Pass in the Akkala Highlands. Great Fairy Tera Southwest end of the Gerudo Desert, in the Great Skeleton. The Soldier's Set is a metal armor set that can be picked up in the Hateno Village from the Ventest Clothing Boutique. The set provides a base defense of 4 with a max armor of 28 at Tier 4. Gamers will need a total of 5 Chuchu Jelly to get a Tier 1 upgrade of +3 armor. Despite base armor, a completed set does not provide any additional bonus. The remaining sets, and their upgrades, are included in the table below. Armor Set Armor Upgrade Status Upgrade Ingredients Desert Voe Tier 1 5 Armor Tier 2 8 Armor Tier 1 Heat Resistance Tier 2 Shock Resistance Tier 1 3 White Chuchu Jelly Tier 2 5 White Chuchu Jelly and 3 Ice Keese Wing Snowquill Tier 1 5 Armor Tier 2 8 Armor Freeze Resistance Tier 1 3 Red Chuchu Jelly Tier 2 5 Red Chuchu Jelly and 3 Warm Safflina Rubber Tier 1 5 Armor Tier 2 8 Armor Shock Resistance Tier 1 3 Yellow Chuchu Jelly Tier 2 5 Yellow Chuchu Jelly and 5 Voltfruit Elixirs In BOTW, Chuchu Jelly also serves one other principle purpose, creating elixirs. Instead of using Monster Parts, gamers can use Chuchu Jelly. This will not alter the process apart from the need for Monster Parts. Additionally, combining Chuchu Jellies with ordinary types of food will create dubious food. Dubious food will restore Link's hearts and increase his rupees twofold. However, eating the food will reduce his overall health by 20 percent as a result. To obtain the recipe for Dubious Food, users need to complete the "Extreme Survival Cuisine" quest. Initiate the quest by traveling over to Satori Mountain and interact with the cooking pot there. People should complete the quest to make sure Link can heal up in less than ideal situations. Best Places To Find Chuchu The Blue Chuchu can be found throughout Hyrule, specifically in the grassy plains and the Great Plateau. Players can search for the Giant Blue Chuchu as well, which is north of West Necluda in the Floret Sandbar. This Giant Chuchu will drop three BOTW Chuchu Jelly instead of one. Giant Blue Chuchu will appear in Hyrule Field as well, but not as consistently. All four types of Chuchu and where to find them are included below. Blue Chuchu Hyrule Field and West Necluda White Chuchu Jelly Hebra Mountains Red Chuchu Jelly Death Mountain and other scorched areas Yellow Chuchu Jelly Gerudo Desert and Faron forests Gamers that want to skip the tedium of searching for and farming Chuchu can use the infinite farming method, which is explained in the following section. Infinitely Farm Chuchu Players will need to fast travel to the Keo Ruug Shrine in the Korok Forest and participate in the Trial of Wood. After arriving in the Shrine, gamers should head straight between the two large trees. There will be a path to the right that leads to an NPC that says "I hope you studied!". Before beginning the trial, players will want to have a movement speed buff active. The stealth or the dark armor set will help to speed up the process even more, but it is not necessary. Each of the trials will cost players 25 Rupees, but there will always be at least six Chuchu in each trial. This method is the only way to ensure that Chuchu will respawn automatically in Breath of the Wild. While it will not be cheap to use this method, it is the fastest way to farm Blue Chuchu. After killing all of the Chuchu, players can throw their weapon to be disqualified from the trial. The entire process will take around thirty seconds each time. Gamers can get all of the Jelly they need in about ten to fifteen minutes. Because the other types of jelly can be created using the Blue Jelly, this is the only method gamers need to use to collect the necessary Jelly to upgrade armor in Breath of the Wild.
